MJW just said what nobody else would. Do you still believe in the Shaolin Myth? Or is it really just a cash grab? 🤔
Talking out his arse
Everyone in the comments is somehow a professor of eastern history, culture, and all things martial arts 😂😂😂 the hubris and ego of the internet never disappoints 😂😂😂
Just watch Ranton's video addressing Michael Jai White's claims. Some of the things MJW said in the original interview were accurate, but this part in particular is filled with false information. Ranton actually spent years training with monks and has deep knowledge about them, unlike MJW here."
There are already a few youtubers who have debunked what he said. I have a funny feeling, a basic google search would also debunk. What do you say.
A construct like christmas and Santa!
I think he is getting things confused.
History this robust is rarely so simple.
Like tryin to draw a line between the history of jazz & blues.
Hence why the dao is the dao which cannot be named
MJW is mixing up Wuxia fiction and modern history of the complex. They can't even date the supposed destruction 400yrs ago and it was only 100yrs ago when the story of its destruction by the Qing was popularised in Wuxia novels. This then became the 'origin story' of a lot of styles and secret societies. But scholars, outside of MA, cannot correlate these stories and view them as fiction. What is true is that a Nationalist warlord destroyed the complex in 1928 and was further vandalised during the cultural revolution. It was at the warring period that a lot of the MA was codified and preserved in the villages surrounding because the then abbot organised militias to keep the peace in the area on the verge of lawlessness at the outbreak of their civil war. There are structures that remain that are centuries old. In the 1980s, the CCP decided to protect Chinese historical sites. Shaolin was chosen as one. They rebuilt the complex as a tourist site and the monks returned but due to religious restrictions could not organise as before. The monastery is not run by an abbot anymore. It is run any a committee. The kungfu practiced was always divided away from the Chan Buddhism and there were coaches, lay monks and religious on site. The CCP also opted to create a MA complex to the north so that students can train without wearing and tearing the reconstructed halls and to cater to the hundreds of 'kungfu tourists'. The styles trained, like the consultation drawn from the reconstruction, was gathered from people who saw or trained pre 1928 (most of the monks at that time were either killed or deported) and cultural revolution (where monks were forced to go back to lay life). The issue in the 80s before the laws were relaxed was the prohibition on religion. This is where the observation 'townspeople in costume'.. since, the laws have been relaxed and their are now trained religious monks but the majority of teaching is still with lay monks and coaches. Since 2010, the complex has been recognised by UNESCO as a world heritage site.
Sharpening would be a nightmare. Probably will have to use diamond rods very carefully. Id never risk using such a piece of art
Shaolin were notorious for little boys..
🔥🔥🔥🔥💯👌🏾 I didn't know that.
Michael Jai white should stick to teaching martial art instead of chinese history lesson that aren't even his major
CCP brings back anything or culture that they destroyed during Cultural Revolution for cloud & money and does it by leaving any elements that threatens or doesn't conform with CCP ideals.
That’s so wild. Poor monks killed off but their teachings lived on I guess
I remember the TV series Kung Fu. In 1976 Could this be possible?
Mam look here MJW aint dealing with these dudes

This is complete bullshit 🙄 Now tell us you wuz kangz.
Interesting!!!
Mannnnnn IDC NOMORE F it all its all lies 😩 if this gun ain’t real this mean my toe ain’t REAL !!!!! ☠️☠️☠️
Sounds like Jews
Always talking shit
The truth is human beings have always tried to cheat and deceive other humans into doing their bidding. Physically, mentally, religiously or any other ways possible. Shaolin, Wu-Tang, Omei they may have existed in a certain era and they may have been setup for doing good initially. But just like all benevolent things that came to humanity, it got twisted and corrupted to suit the needs of a few at the expense of the many. China was ruled by emperors and warlords, do you really think such people would allow clans/gangs of highly trained combatants to freely live in their territory?
So Shaolin Popeye wasnt real? Damn. It was my favorite movie
i don't know. like i'm not disputing the commercialization of it all, but it would be crazy to claim that the warrior monks were wiped out because 1 temple was burned. they would have continued to exist in different places and under different names.
🤔So how did the Wu Tang Clan learn about the 36 Chambers? 😂
So wutang isn’t a real crew and they been lying to us about their lifestyles this entire time? Ain’t that a
Bruh the way Chinese ppl manage to capitalize on 20th century American anti-Chinese racism and cultural stereotype is hilarious irony.
its amazing how people who live far away from a place read a story and now are experts in the matter.
he doesnt know what he is talking about
Im loving it
And let me guess the true monks are Africans?
To my understanding the Northern Shaolin Temple do the more publicity and acrobatics stuff while the Southern Temple is more true to its origins and serious about its heritage and monastic duties. One is more show and for tourists and tours and the other doesn't really do that and keeps more to its roots.
What the rubber is he yapping about
Correct
ccp make capitalism a joke
There one man left alive that still knows the so-called "original" shaolin kungfu. But its not called that. The monks had to go into hiding after their temple burned, so they opened a tea shop and continued to train in secret. It became known as Tea Shop Boxing. Theres a single master left alive, and he has no students because nobody seems interested in learning it anymore. So when this man dies, an entire ancient history and culture will be extinct.
So Krillin from Dragonball Z was just faking his Destructo Disc? Argh!! you destroyed my childhood! I was practicing to do that move for 50 years hoping to chop aliens in half and now I realised I wasted all my time. I should have just taken up kickboxing or bought a gun.
MJW is a fck Shaolin level fighter
The influence of a good story
The real shaolin temple was on kunlun mountain..
Huh. That's pretty wild. Makes sense, though.
Wong fai Hong is the Shaolin doctor
What they do now performance material arts and San Da.
Wow. That just blew my mind!
The cultural revolution destroyed it. Hes right
Wutang forever.
