Lol I'm glad some folks provided some context. I was thinking 'is the dude at bat super fast'? Lol i didn't understand how having a guy on 1st and eating an out would be preferable to him being on third.
Runner and batter runner are both out. College, Minor, and Major League rules state that if a runner intentionally interferes with a batted ball to break up a double play (at the umpire's judgement) both the runner and the batter-runner are to be called out.
That would have been a double play to probably end the inning so he touched the ball which is an automatic out but takes the double play out of contention
Intentional interference results in the runner who was contacted and the batter runner being out. Yeah, it looked cool, but given there’s a rule against intentionally interfering with penalties resulting in two outs, I’d assume he’s not the first one to try it.
if infielder makes an error they just lost a run possibly 2 if fielder makes a bad throw but a pretty easy double play if fielders are on point, so I'm 50/50 on this
I'm not a baseball expert but isn't it a heads-up play assuming that the short stop would have fielded the ball that might have turned into a double play?

I’m baffled 😮
That was dumb
No turn 2 zone
Isn't that obstruction?

Is this legal in the MLB?

Never seen that before that was cool
How is that even legal
High IQ play.
High IQ if he didn’t make it look super obvious
😮 definitely a major league play!
If you're going to think like that, why not just run around the field with the ball until the runners have time to score?
If he made it look like an accident it'd be truly high IQ. This way ump could call it a double play.
No double play for you guys😂😂, now what!!!
Broadcast announcer sucks at his job, way to explain the significance of avoiding a double play…

That’s wild what the heck…
Not legal but I guess in bumfvck you can get away with clown shit
If this works, why not toss the ball into left field & advance the early runner?
High IQ? Lol. Or cheating?
There is a reason you never see that in the MLB. The Umpire would call interference still resulting in the double play.
Looks like a low IQ play. Makes two outs for sure on a play that may not have been two outs. Looks like he intentionally interfered.
I didn't know you can even do that
The smarter thing to do would’ve been to “accidentally” kick the ball
Wouldn’t they be interference? Catching/getting the ball when he is a running. Is that not interfering with the other team
Key words were "for the moment" my guys. Guess what the final result of this play was 😜
This should be interference. If you don't treat it as such, you're incentivizing every runner to tackle whoever gets in their way.
That is not genius at all. Intentional interference. Double play. (NFHS).
The shortstops face lmfao he was so confused
Not SMART! Left the umpires to decide a double play to be invoked. Intentionally interfering can do that.
